A couple of people have asked me about axolotls. I should really refer them to Dan, who showed me this picture of one at the bar on Saturday night and I was like, dang! And apparently axolotls have their own website if you want to look at more pictures of them. The real challenge now will be making sure Meghan doesn’t order one on the internet.

A fine gentleman I know is going to help me upload a drawn font onto the computer. Technology! In preparation for that I have been playing around with some letters. And I can’t draw letters without drawing some stuff behind them or on top of them. That’s just how it goes. manhattan

Way back in March of 2006 I went to the Okefenokee Swamp in Folkstown, Georgia. There were all sorts of lovely oddities there. Spanish moss, owls, lizards, loons, strange plants and flowers, most seen on an evening boat tour led by a bearded swamp enthusiast on his tinny old skiff. There was a NY Times article about it a few months ago.

I didn’t see these flowers at the swamp, but about a year after visiting I looked up some types that live there and I drew them:
